Salute to Liberty: Poor girls' ordeal.

The two girls who were taken into custody by the New York police on the allegation that they will commit an act of terrorism by blowing themselves have been released after six weeks ordeal with the authorities. Out of these two, the Muslim girl came to USA when she was months old. Her only fault was that she did not like the American way of education so she left the school. Her father had complained about her involvement with somebody from some other state and sought the police help but all this landed her in the police custody. While she was being taken by the police for interrogation another girl said hello to her and the authorities thought she was also another person of the 'clique'. The poor girls had to spend more than six weeks in the custody for a filmsy ground. -ZULFIQAR ALI BUTT, Lamar, USA, via e-mail, May 10.
