A raped girl's story .......

• So, Mukhtar Mai, the gang-rape survivor, is in virtual house arrest “for the sake of her security” while a review board of the Lahore High Court has ordered the release of those accused of the heinous crime — including those convicted earlier by the anti-terrorism court that initially heard the case. Will an executive order once again stop the release? Is Mukhtar Mai being persuaded, like the doctor raped in Sui, to leave Pakistan and settle abroad?
• There is no getting away from the fact that the acquittal on appeal was based on technicality rather than material evidence. Will it always be like that? Will we ever see the rapists punished? Will the courts ever admit fool-proof DNA evidence to establish rape?
