Sen. Ted Kennedy writies on important issues.

Dear Zulfiqar Ali,

The war in Iraq is at a critical point, and we must develop a strategy that is more effective and frankly, more honest than the strategy used by President Bush to take us into the war. We must have accountability, responsibility, and a belief in America's role as a moral leader in the world community.

Here at home, one million more Americans lose their health insurance every year, and those who have health insurance face higher and higher costs. We need decent health care for every American - and the right reforms will provide that care at a fair price.

Our country's commitment to education reform has to be more than rhetoric. Students, teachers, schools, and colleges deserve higher priority. The nation has to be willing to invest in its future. Reforms are essential at every level -- from early childhood education to graduate education -- to keep America prepared for the changing world economy.

Good jobs are essential too. Unemployment continues to be a serious concern in today's troubled economy and we can clearly do more to guarantee good jobs for more Americans, and help those who can't find work.

Together you and I can make a difference.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Edward M. Kennedy
United States Senator
