Judges to be restored in Pakistan

Pakistan to Reinstate Judges Deposed Under Musharraf

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, May 2 -- Pakistan's coalition government has agreed to reinstate the country's chief justice and 60 other judges deposed last year under a controversial order by President Pervez Musharraf, a move that could threaten Musharraf's tenuous grip on political power.

Can some body in USA imagine that President Bush can sack the Chief Justice of the country by imposing Martial Law? If not then why President Bush is backing a general, against all democratic norms, to let him do away with the judges, 60 in number, who want the role of law prevail in Pakistan. Pakistan President, it may be recalled, admitted himself for having committed illegal act for sacking the Judges. Why the Republicans are siding with a person who acted undemocratically in the case of judges and by acquiring power in 1999 with a gun in hand.
