One evening soon after, as we sat in Majid’s family lounge with Faiz, the doorbell rang. Zehra opened the door and in walked the Birmingham man with the wife in tow. But, without a toupee on his head he was beaming under a shiny top. Majid now had his chance, Faiz or no Faiz. “Arey”, he exclaimed in Urdu, “aapko typhoid ho gia tha?” with a deadpan face.
Agha Hasan Abidi is dead, Majid is dead, Faiz is dead, AG is dead, Ashiq and Ijaz Batalvi are dead, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto is dead and General Ziaul Haq is dead. In the end, everybody dies.
