Black American Muslim
A Black American Muslim, Mr. Raymond Abdullah Palkner, has sought NABs help for recovery of his money ($5 million) which NAFDEC allegedly owed him. (Dawn June 13). Palkner had signed an agreement with NAFDEC in 1978 to show the Hollywood movie The Greatest in Pakistan. The movie is based on the career of Mohammad Ali (the boxer). I am not concerned with the merit of his case. What has attracted my attention in the report is Mr Palkners allegation that the US embassy in Islamabad was not extending any help to him because he was (a) black and (b) Muslim. If you are black and a Muslim in America, no one in the US embassy cares for you, he said. This reminds me of the fate of Great Mohammad Ali. This reminds of the fate of Loius Farrah Khan and the Million March. This reminds me of the fate of tens of thousands of converting blacks in America. -A PAKISTANI, Islamabad, via e-mail, June 18. | |
