Judgement of the future !

Judgement of ........Over 60 percent of the people in Britain demand of their government to withdraw its troops from Iraq immediately. Some give the government some time up to X’mas, but not beyond. Many British believe it a foreign policy disaster. The same feeling is being reported from the USA. The allied forces have failed in Iraq and now they are talking of dividing the country into three parts with a wish to keep the oil rich area with them. The dawn of democracy in Iraq has claimed lives of over six hundred and fifty thousand people of Iraq. The allied forces are reported to have lost about three thousand people of their own. How will the future historian judge the acts of those responsible for this mass murder? The judgement of the present is already on the anvil. The after effects have already started in the UK. Prime Minister Tony Blair is already in the docks and President Bush, is expected to lose majority of both Houses of the Congress to Democrats in the mid term elections next month. Much more should follow. -ZULFIQAR ALI BUTT, London, UK, via e-mail, October 24. ...... ...... ..... (Published in the Daily Nation, Lahore, Pakistan ... on October 29th, 06).

Eid celebrated.

Eid was celebrated in London on Monday, October 23rd, while it is being celebrated in Pakistan today, Wednesday October 25th. I spoke to Sarah and Rukshee, on the phone, after having waited for more than three hours as the international telephone lines were very busy. Before that I spoke to Dr. Misbah in Springfield, MO, USA. Dr. Misbah happens to be President of the Islamic Centre there. I could not speak to Mr. Abdullah but left a recorded message at his Centre telephone. I was able to speak to Mona of the KP Stores and was later able to speak to Ray, her husband, who was very happy to hear from me after almost a year. However, Mona asked me as to when I would return to the USA. I told her it would be any time. I spoke to Sheikh Sabit and his brother Sheikh Saeed too in Manchester. I was a big fun to enjoy the Eid here. I had celebrated two last Eids in the USA and it was my first Eid in the UK.

I walk to my 70th year.

I have completed my 69th year on October 15th and entered my 70th year. All my family members wished me a happy birthday. I missed Tanvir and his family. Rukshee and Sara spoke to me on the telephone. Rukshee sent me a text message too. I recieved two birthday cards from Helen in USA while Touqeer gave a new watch on this occasion. Roomina, my daughter-in-law in London, was the first to wish me happy birthday in the morning. She was accompanied by Aaiza and Zain, her kids, with a big smile on their faces. Qadeer also joined them later on this occasion. I thank God that I was able to see this day.

Bush brings A-bomb to North Korea.

Bush to blame !!!! India pushed Pakistan to become a nuclear power in the seventies while USA has pushed North Korea to become a nuclear power now. If America would listen to reason many disturbing events would not happen around the world. George Bush, however, continues to commit follies with the result that the present USA government led by him is the most hated power in the world today. USA is losing war in Afghanistan, Osama is still alive and well, daily killings of dozens of people in Iraq continues and there seems no end to it all till Bush is removed from the scene. -ZULFIQAR ALI BUTT, London, UK, via e-mail, October 9. God bless Sara's baby !!!!

Sara Butt, my youngest daughter in Pakistan, who was married to Hassan Butt last year has been blessed with a baby girl. Rukshee was the first to break this news to me in London. Later I spoke to all of them on the phone.

One still to go !!!!!

Two faces ........one to go !!!!!! President Bush professes a commitment to democracy all around the world but is still sleeping two days after a military coup-maker usurped the democratically elected government in Thailand. Is he only interested in the introduction of democracy in the Muslim countries? In the name of democracy hundred of thousands of people have been killed in Afghanistan and Iraq during the last five years. Mr Bush also blithely supports the military rule in Pakistan. The two-faced American policy has been exposed to the world and a reaction is now setting in everywhere. In the UK, people are virtually drumming out Mr Bush's henchman Tony Blair who will have to relinquish his post of the Prime Minister in the next few months. That's one down and one to go. Bush himself is facing a certain defeat in the November mid-term elections in the USA. - ZULFIQAR ALI BUTT, Ilford, UK, via e-mail, September (published in the Daily Nation, Lahore, Pakistan dated Oct/9th/06
