Son apologises for his father's mis-deeds

ISLAMABAD: Speaking in the National Assembly on Tuesday Khawaja Asif MNA welcomed criticism of his father late Khawja Muhammad Safdar for working with Gen Ziaul Haq. Not only that he also sought apology from people on behalf of his father. He reiterated the importance of criticism of public figures and his speech earned the applause of the House. "We, including Ejazaul Haq and others, who themselves or whose relatives worked with Gen Zia, should not be offended with criticism of their actions or those of their elders. Acts, political decisions and conduct of public figures could be questioned by anyone and we should have the courage to face them. At least, I would not get offended at all if the conduct of my father comes under fire for working with a military general," said Asif. Khawja Asif clarified that when his father was working with Zia, he was not around as he was working abroad. "I would pray to Allah to give me death if I ever work with a military dictator," he said
